Ok, I will admit it…I am addicted to peanut butter! I could literally eat it everyday with Triscuits, wheat bread or even just straight out of the jar! But, with the strict controls that I place on myself and my diet in order to reach my fitness and health goals, peanut butter just cannot play as large a part as I would like it to! Until now, that is!!
Last week I finally decided to order a sample of the peanut butter I had been hearing so much about…PB2. I’ve heard nothing but great things about PB2 for quite a while now, but just haven’t gotten around to purchasing it online, because apparently, that’s the only place you can get it…at least for me as there is no place close to where I live that carries it.
My PB2 Review
What is PB2? It’s a powder form of peanut butter that is MUCH healthier for you than regular peanut butter! The jar actually states that it has “85% less fat calories than traditional peanut butter.” The serving size is two tablespoons, and what you do is mix it with one tablespoon of water and mix it until it’s smooth.
As I first opened the package I was a bit surprised that I immediately smelled the familiar peanut butter smell I am accustomed to. For some reason I had it in my mind that it would only have a peanut butter taste and not the aroma. When I first added the water to the PB2 powder I thought that there was no way possible that it was enough water. But, as I continued to mix the powder it congealed into a nice paste like texture (experimentation and fine tuning the water addition can yield a creamier texture if that is what is preferred). I first decided to try the PB2 by itself. It had a great taste and reminded me of my natural peanut butter in terms of texture, although it doesn’t quite have the stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth feels like that of regular peanut butter. But, with the healthier aspects of PB2…I can deal with that! LOL

Ingredients: Roasted peanuts, sugar and salt.
Serving size: 2 Tablespoons (12 grams)

When you think about the amount of calories in regular peanut butter compared to PB2, there is no comparison! I just checked and in my Natural JIF there are 190 calories in 2 tablespoons! WOW!!!
How it’s made. The peanuts are slow roasted and then pressed to remove the fats and oils. It even states on the jar that there are no additives and it’s all natural, which is important to me since I’m so health conscious about what I eat!
There are two flavors, regular and chocolate, and even though I haven’t had the chance to try the chocolate yet, I’m pretty excited to do so. Now that I know that I can get the peanut butter taste without the guilt of having regular peanut butter, I’m going to start incorporating it into my daily diet, into things like Shakeology, and may even create some sort of healthy dessert. So my PB2 review is that it’s one heck of an amazing product that tastes great and is very healthy for you! It’s about time that someone comes out with a healthy peanut butter that’s not just in name only!

And let me tell you…it tastes unbelievable! It’s like liquid a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup! Seriously! And, if you add some vanilla whey protein powder to the mix….voila! It’s like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard from Dairy Queen! Best of all, since PB2 is a powder, there is no need to pull out the blender to mix it all up! Just use your favorite shaker cup and you have a quick and mess-free healthy dessert treat!

- 1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
- 1 scoop Beachbody Vanilla Whey Protein (optional)
- 2 table spoons of PB2 powder
- 1 cup water
- 5-7 ice cubes (optional)
